Linde star sapphires are man-made gemstones of exceptional color and quality. They display an asterism similar to natural star sapphires, which is the optical property that creates the rayed star effect. Linde Air Products Company developed and manufactured Linde sapphires. They patented the technique in 1949 and discontinued production in 1974.
